Dutch couture designer Jan Taminiau established his independent atelier in 2004, after years as an apprentice with major European designers, corsetiers, and lace makers. His wide-ranging technical background resulted in a global reputation for bold creativity and supreme attention to craftsmanship across dress-making, ready-to-wear collections, jewelry, and accessories.

Taminiau has created couture pieces for many prominent women, including Lady Gaga, Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, and Beyoncé. He is one of Queen Máxima’s regular dress-makers, and famously designed the dress she wore to her husband’s coronation in 2013. For Beyoncé, Taminiau designed the silver shoes she’s wearing on the cover images of her album 4. He has designed costumes for Dutch National Opera and Ballet productions, and in 2018 the Centraal Museum Utrecht presented a major career retrospective of his work, which became the most visited exhibition in the museum’s history.

Inspired by art history and material experimentation, all of Taminiau’s works in jewelry are unique and hand-crafted in the Netherlands by expert artisans. Each methacrylate stone is hand-cut and polished, and the brass is hand-welded. New pieces may be commissioned based on past creations, though his artisanal process guarantees some slight differences.
