Allan Weber is a multi-disciplinary Brazilian artist who works with found objects, assemblages, installation and fine jewelry, repurposing materials and iconographies to depict daily life in his hometown of Rio de Janeiro. Weber graduated in 2021 from the city’s famed Parque Lague School of Art, and founded his own project space in his neighborhood of 5 Bocas, in Rio’s north zone. His work was part of the landmark exhibition Brazilian Histories at the Museum of Art of São Paulo (MASP) in 2021-2022, organized by the next Venice Biennale curator Adriano Pedrosa. His work in jewelry thus far explores and critiques the global appropriation of Black cultures, paradoxically turning an iconic rapper’s gold chain into an intimate landscape of his hometown.
