Miguel Andrade Valdez
Miguel Andrade Valdez is a multi-disciplinary artist working across genres of design, painting, drawing, sculpture, video, and architectural space. He is a co-founder of the Perú-based design collective Taller Tarapacá, along with architect Diana Ortega Garagatti, industrial designer Paula Cermeño León, and textile designer Mozhdeh Matin. They collaborate with local artisans and material experts to arrive at new, sustainable interpretations of Pre-Columbian visual cultures. Andrade Valdez is particularly interested in the Huacas of Perú, and studies how their traditional forms and designs illuminate new possibilities for minimalist and modernist perspectives.
