Claudia Vallejo
Claudia Vallejo is a Colombian jeweler whose work reflects a deep commitment to material exploration, sculptural principles, and personal narrative. With a background in anthropology and formal training in jewelry design from Barcelona’s Escola Massana, Vallejo approaches her practice as both a technical and emotional investigation. Since founding her studio in Bogotá in 1997, she has developed a distinct visual language grounded in bold minimalism and intuitive geometry. Her pieces are entirely handmade using recycled Colombian silver and gold. For some of her series she draws inspiration from modernist sculptors such as Richard Serra and Eduardo Chillida, translating their monumental presence into a wearable, bodily scale. She has also collaborated with communities of survivors of regional violence in Colombia, blending material storytelling with cultural resilience and social consciousness.
Vallejo’s process begins with sketching and small-scale modeling, evolving into jewelry that balances structure with abstraction, and eco-social engagement with intimacy and individuality. Each work is conceived as both an object of adornment and a contemplative space, inviting tactile interaction and personal connection. Her work was recently featured in MAD About Jewelry 2024 at the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, a leading showcase of contemporary jewelers.
