ILOEMA
ILOEMA is a commissioning platform founded in 2019 by editors Silvia Delgado de Torres and Teresa Muñoz-Rojas, dedicated to teaching traditional Spanish embroidery techniques to contemporary artists. It enables artists to incorporate this knowledge into their practices, while helping preserve the unique skills of historic local communities. The project pairs each artist with a community of experienced artisans, and they develop a textile-based body of work together. The production process of the co-designed items is also a key financial contributor to these communities, as it employs the artisans directly and all items are 100% made in Spain. Since 2019, Iloema has worked with artists Antonio Ballester Moreno and Blanca Muñoz, with more collaborations on track for 2024.
